Pashto Poetess Alaf Jana Khattak Passes Away
On 15 sep 2019, ALAF JANA KHATTAK, a prominent Pukhtoon poetess and nationalist from district Karak and a member of khudi Khidmatgar movement died at the age of 88
Veteran political activist, and poetess Alaf Jan Khattak laid to rest in Ahmadi Banda village in Karak on Sunday.
Poetess and Political activist, Alaf Jana Khattak who was also a Khudai Khidmatgar Movement activist passed away after protracted illness at the age of 88 in her native village Ahmadi Banda in district Karak of KP.
According to her family, she was attacked by Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA) about two weeks ago and was shifted to the hospital in Peshawar. However she had taken her last breath in hospital and bring her body back to Karak.
She was laid to rest at her local graveyard in Ahmadi Banda. A large number of people including ANP leaders, elected representatives of Karak and people from different field of life attended her funeral.
Alaf Jana Khattak was born in 1931. She belive in Nationalism and works as an active member of Khudai Khidmatgar movement founded by freedom fighter Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan (Bacha Khan). She was a known feminist and Pashto poetess. Her poetry based on resistance and Nationalism and her columns used to be published in a Pashto journal of Khudai Khidmatgar Tehreek (PAKHTOON).
Alaf Jana Girls Degree College
A girls' degree college had been established at Banda Daud Shah by the ANP government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during its rule from 2008-2013 and named Alaf Jana Khattak degree girls college
She left behind two brothers and a large number of fans to mourn her death. She died on Saturday in hospital owing to multiple health complications.
Awami National Party president Asfandyar Wali Khan paid rich tributes to her. And said "the poetess and active member of God-Serving movement (Khudai Khidmatgar) Alaf Jana Khattak will live in our hear forever".
Pashtun Political workers and ANP leaders including Mian Iftikhar Hussain, notables and fans attended her funeral. Her death has declared unforgettable loss for Pashto literature and Awami National Party (ANP).
May Allah grant her highest rank in jannah.
