One year of Taliban rule: Fear and loathing in Kabul.

 

It has been one year since the Taliban have taken control of Kabul But the situation are far away from stability . Soon after the take over the Taliban government announced general amnesty , pledges an inclusive government unrestricted education for females and assurance of human rights to common masses but it seems like a dream gone sour 

After the Taliban took the reigns of power the situation got worsen . 22.8 million people faces food insecurity . Basic health facilities are negligible . One million people became jobless . In some parts parents are even force to sell their children to meet their daily demands . Prolonged drought COVID-19 pandemic severe loss to the wheat crops and devastating earthquakes also add much to the crisis . Despite the pledges made by Taliban representatives Afghanistan is the only country where secondary girls education are banned . The government banned some 1500 media organisations leaving 5000 people jobless . The recent discovery of Al Qaeda leader Aiman al Zawahri in Afghanistan jeopardise the relationship between the Taliban and United States of America . Some Reuters believed that it spurred the efforts of Taliban to gain legitimacy of their government 

The risk of militancy continue to persists in Afghanistan the ISIS launch a series of attacks suicide bombers and target killings . The Nationals Resistance Front lead by Ahmad Shah Masood continued to remain active in Panjshir Valley although the Taliban diminished them but not completely eliminated them . The border issue remain complex both Pakistan and Iran lament the Taliban for failing to stop cross border terrorism . The terrorist group operating inside the war torn country posed a serious challenge to regional security and stability . That’s why Russia and China call for active engagement with Taliban government . No country officially accept Taliban government yet Taliban officials attends a meeting in Taskenk comprising delegates of thirty country 

The Taliban is reality although an unpleasant one . The US shall soften its position specially to unfreeze the $ 7 billion of Afghanistan for humanitarian assistance . The Taliban shall also fullfill its promises for an inclusive government human rights abuses shall be stop and restore girls education . Only a comprehensive approach towards Afghanistan is in the best interst of the people of Afghanistan and the world
