ECP has stopped Prime Minister Imran Khan from visiting Peshawar
Peshawar: Regional Election
commission Peshawar Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has written a letter to Prime Minister
Imran Khan and stopped him from his upcoming visit to Peshawar, and said that
the Prime Minister’s visit to the relevant venue would be against the code of
conduct.
According to details, the letter has been written to the Prime Minister by
the Regional Election Commissioner. In the letter, the District
Monitoring Officer Peshawar directed the Prime Minister not to visit Peshawar.
The ECP said according to code of conduct, President, PM, federal and
provincial ministers, advisors and member of parliament can visit a
constituency where polls are scheduled, after the dates for the election have
been notified. Violations of the code of conduct could be prosecuted and action
could be taken under sections 233 and 234 of the Election Act.
Remember that Prime Minister Imran Khan was to visit Peshawar
today for the launch of New Pakistan Card.
He had to meet the Chief Minister and Governor of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa and also hold meetings with the political leadership in Peshawar.
